Are you a young artist from a NATO member country? Would you like to create a mural for the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, in June? Submit your design for a chance to win a unique opportunity to showcase your talent and creativity.

Danish artist Touborg and American mural artist Hamilton Glass collaborating on the NATO 75th anniversary summit mural in Washington, D.C.

NATO is launching its third annual mural competition to mark a NATO summit and highlight the Alliance’s vital role in protecting one billion people across Europe and North America. The first mural was created for the 2023 Vilnius Summit in Lithuania and unveiled in January 2024. A competition was held to select the designer of the mural commemorating NATO’s 75th anniversary summit in Washington, D.C. in 2024.

Now, NATO is calling on young artists from across the Alliance to submit their proposals in view of the upcoming 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague. The winner will work with a local street artist to immortalise their mural on a wall in the city.

This year’s competition theme is: “Maintaining our Shared Future”. Young artists with a great visual idea for a street mural are invited to enter by submitting a design, image, sketch or photograph that brings to life NATO’s mission of keeping one billion people safe. Entries in a 3D street-art style that creates an optical illusion via three-dimensional impressions on a two-dimensional horizontal surface are desirable.

To be eligible to apply, you must be a citizen of a NATO member country under the age of 35. Only individuals may apply; team applications will not be accepted.

To apply to the competition, complete the form below, together with your design (in JPEG, PNG or PDF format) and a brief description.

Following the deadline, all submissions will be evaluated by a panel of NATO officials and Michiel Corver, Director of The Hague Street Art. Top-rated entries will be contacted with further information.

The deadline for entries is 27 April 2025 at 23:59 CET.
