Captain Navy Giovanni M. Galoforo

Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Advisor

01 October 2025 - Present

Born in Perugia on June 15, 1968, I attended the Italian Naval Academy in 1987-91, and the US Flight Schools in 1992-94. After several years flying Maritime Patrol and Anti-Submarine Warfare, and very rewarding experiences on board and in command of Italian military ships, I have dedicated my career to Strategic Communications (StratCom) and Public Affairs, striving to build meaningful connections and foster understanding across diverse audiences. Currently, I am honored to serve as the StratCom and Public Affairs Advisor (PASCAD) to the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

Captain Navy Giovanni M. Galoforo

Over the years, I have had the privilege of contributing to communications strategy and policy planning in various capacities, including as a Speechwriting and Public Affairs Instructor at the Italian Navy College, and as an advisor for military and civilian NATO and EU leadership. These roles have given me the opportunity to support international teams, craft impactful messages, and promote collaboration on complex global challenges.

My academic background includes a BA in Maritime and Naval Sciences (University of Pisa), an MA II in International Security and Strategic Studies (University of Venice) and a Diploma from the Defense Information School (Washington DC). Becoming a registered professional journalist in 2010 was a personal milestone that deepened my appreciation for effective communication and storytelling.

Fluent in Italian, English, and French, and with working knowledge of several other languages, I have always sought to bridge cultural and linguistic divides. While I have been fortunate to receive recognition for my service, including NATO and peace mission medals, my focus remains on teamwork and learning from those around me.

I am married with two children and deeply value the connections I’ve built throughout my journey. My motto is: Communico ergo sum. I believe that open communication and collaboration are key to addressing today’s challenges and shaping a better future.
