Orhan Murtezani is the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO, a position he assumed in August 2026.

Ambassador H.E. Mr. Orhan Murtezani

He brings to the Alliance a career spanning senior government office and EU accession diplomacy. As Minister for European Affairs and Chief Negotiator with the European Union, he led the country's accession process and coordinated cross-government reform in line with EU standards, subsequently advising Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on the implementation of the national Reform Agenda. This work has given him extensive experience of high-level negotiation, strategic communication and consensus-building among international partners, as well as of the regional dynamics shaping Western Balkan security. He is committed to advancing North Macedonia's contribution to Euro-Atlantic security and regional stability. An economics graduate of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, he holds a master's degree in management and organisation from Marmara University in Istanbul. He speaks Albanian, Macedonian, English and Turkish. He is married.
