Allison Hart is the NATO Spokesperson and the Director of the Office of Strategic Communications. In this role, she is responsible for NATO’s public messaging as well as for providing strategic communications advice to the Secretary General, the North Atlantic Council and stakeholders across the NATO enterprise.
She has served in a range of roles at NATO Headquarters in Brussels since 2011, including as Deputy Director of the Secretary General’s Private Office, Head of the Human Security Unit, Special Advisor to the Deputy Secretary General, and Executive Officer of NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division. In 2022 and 2023, she took leave from NATO to serve as Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to the OSCE Secretary General, Helga Maria Schmid, in Vienna.
Allison began her career as an entrepreneur in Chicago where she launched and managed two successful businesses before pursuing a career in international relations. Before joining NATO, she spent several years in Washington at The Brookings Institution on projects related to national security and transatlantic relations.
Allison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle East Language and Civilization from Northwestern University and a Master of Arts in European Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
