Lorenz Meyer-Minnemann is the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General of Management in the Office of the Secretary General at NATO. He was appointed to the position in September 2025. He previously served as Executive Coordinator and 1st Deputy Director in the Private Office of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and then Mark Rutte from July 2016 to 2025.

Having first joined as a consultant in 2001, Lorenz has served in the NATO International Staff in a variety of positions for more than two decades, including as Head of Civil Preparedness from 2015-2017, where he was responsible for developing and coordinating NATO’s response to hybrid threats, protection of critical infrastructure, and civil support to NATO military planning and operations.
In 2013, Lorenz served as a policy advisor in the policy-planning unit of Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, while on detachment from NATO’s Political Affairs Division.
He served as desk officer for relations with the United States, Germany, and the United Nations from 2010-2015, officer for the Caucasus and Central Asia from 2005-2010 and general policy officer for civil emergency planning from 2001-2005.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in War Studies and History from King’s College, University of London.
Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Lorenz is married with two children. He speaks German, English, and French.
