NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg praised Denmark for its strong contributions to NATO during a visit to Copenhagen on Wednesday (3 November 2021). Meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the Secretary General thanked Denmark for leading NATO Mission Iraq and participating in NATO’s enhanced forward presence in the eastern part of the Alliance.
The Secretary General and the Prime Minister also discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Madrid next year and the NATO 2030 agenda to strengthen the Alliance.
During his visit, the Secretary General attended the 73rd Nordic Council, delivering a speech to parliamentarians. He also had talks with Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, Defence Minister Trine Bramsen and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the ‘Monument to Denmark’s International Effort Since 1948.’ Separately, he had a private audience with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.
