Сьогодні, 16 грудня 2020 року, генерал-лейтенант італійських сухопутних сил Нікола Занеллі заступив на посаду заступника командувача очолюваної НАТО місії «Резолют сепорт» («Рішуча підтримка»), яка забезпечує тренування, надання порад і допомоги Афганським силам національної оборони і безпеки. Він перебрав цю посаду у генерал-лейтенанта британських сухопутних сил Джила Гілла.
