НАТО підкреслює свою роль у боротьбі проти незаконної торгівлі стрілецькою і легкою зброєю

У середу, 20 червня 2018 року, представники НАТО взяли участь в конференції ООН у Нью-Йорку, присвяченій боротьбі проти незаконної торгівлі легкою і стрілецькою зброєю. Пані Ейріні Лемос-Маніаті, заступниця керівника Секції контролю над озброєннями і координації роззброєння у штаб-квартирі НАТО, зазначила, що НАТО за декілька років допомогла знищити понад 600 тисяч одиниць стрілецької і легкої зброї і більше 160 мільйонів набоїв. Технічні стандарти НАТО також беруться за основу у багатьох прикладах передового міжнародного досвіду з контролю над стрілецькою зброєю, легкими озброєннями і запасами боєприпасів. У рамках програми НАТО «Партнерство заради миру» Цільовий фонд зі стрілецької і легкої зброї нині фінансує сім проектів із сукупним бюджетом понад 40 мільйонів євро.
