Warsaw, Poland, 11 May 2011 – Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), concluded today a visit to Poland on the invitation of the Chief of Staff of the Polish Armed Forces (PAF), General Mieczysław Cieniuch.

CMC had the opportunity to meet with the President of Poland, H.E. Bronisław Komorowski, and with the Minister of Defence, H.E. Bodgan Klich. During the meetings and the staff talks at the General Staff of the PAF, Admiral Di Paola expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation, on behalf of the Alliance, on the proactive support Poland is providing to NATO. “The contribution Polish Armed Forces is delivering daily to the missions of the Alliance are absolutely of first-class,” he said, while acknowledging the successful efforts Warsaw is carrying out in the continuous process of transformation of the military tool.

The visit coincided with Exercise Allied Reach 2011, a meeting hosted by the Polish National Defence University that gathered the highest military representatives of the Alliance to discuss how the Alliance is facing and will face current and future challenges to the security scenario, from a military point of view.
