Ambassador Kai Eide, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, visited NATO HQ on 29 September 2008. He met with the NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, and updated NATO Ambassadors on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
The Special Representative maintains regular contact with the Alliance, as both organizations work together to promote a comprehensive approach aimed at bringing security and reconstruction to Afghanistan.
