Lt Col Dr. Roberto Isabella, former head of a NATO Partnership for Peace military medicine team in Tirana, was awarded the Medal for Special Services during the 26th plenary meeting of NATO military medical services, held early June in Florence in Italy.
The medal was presented by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, through his Chief General Staff Lt Gen Pellumb Qazimi, to honour Dr. Isabella’s contribution to the transformation of the Albanian Military Health Service.
Dr. Isabella was able to coordinate member and non-members countries of the Alliance and NGOs to give their support to the Albanian Armed Forces in developing its health service.
His work helped to transform the Albanian National Trauma Centre and Military University Hospital into a promising health structure, now on its way to becoming the best therapeutic centre for traumatic injuries in the region.
