Conference examines NATO-Egypt relations

On 14-15 February 2006, NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division and the Egyptian Council of Foreign Affairs (ECFA) co-sponsored a conference on “NATO and Egypt: A dialogue”.
The conference was opened by the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Aboul Gheit, and the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Alessandro Minuto Rizzo, who delivered the keynote address.
The conference brought together opinion leaders, officials, journalists and military officers from Egypt to discuss NATO’s transformation and Egypt’s contribution to the Alliance’s enhanced Mediterranean Dialogue, agreed at the June 2004 Istanbul Summit.
