A joint peacekeeping exercise involving participants from 17 countries is taking place from 2-15 May. Named "Linked Seas 2000", the exercise is being conducted across an area stretching from the Gulf of Gascony to the Island of Madeira. The scenario revolves around a border conflict between two non-NATO countries.
"Linked Seas 2000" is being organised by Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces South Atlantic (CINSOUTHLANT) based in Lisbon, under the command of vice-admiral Luis Mota e Silva.
