I welcome that the United States today has discussed at NATO how we can develop missile defence which can include all Allies and protect all Allies.

NATO leaders reaffirmed in Strasbourg-Kehl that missile proliferation poses an increasing threat and that missile defence is part of a broader response to this threat.

I welcome in fact that NATO will play a more prominent role in the US plans for missile defence in Europe. That is a positive step.

Now we will sit down together and continue our work within NATO on how we can protect ourselves against missile threats based on the principles of solidarity and indivisibility of security.
