Like other representatives of the international community I am profoundly shocked and appalled by news of the brutal assassination of Mr. Pierre Gemayel, Lebanese Minister of Industry. I condemn this cowardly act. It is imperative that those responsible for this murder are expeditiously apprehended and brought to justice.
My thoughts are with the family of the victim, as well as with the people of Lebanon and of the whole region who deserve a better, more peaceful future.
