On Tuesday (8 September 2026), NATO Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Shekerinska, and Chair of the European Union’s Political and Security Committee (PSC), Lene Mandel Vensild, co-chaired a formal NAC-PSC meeting on Operation Althea.

The European Union Force (EUFOR) Operation Althea is an EU-led military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Attendees discussed the ongoing importance of the operation in contributing to a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They underlined their support to the operation under the Berlin Plus Arrangements and supported the upcoming renewal of its mandate by the UN Security Council. They reiterated NATO’s and the EU’s steadfast commitment to the stability of the country, reaffirming that a security vacuum would not be allowed to emerge.
