On Thursday (23 July 2026), NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood Javier Colomina visited Qatar. He met met with Dr Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Secretary of State for International Cooperation, and Lieutenant-General Jasim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces.
Mr Colomina reaffirmed NATO’s solidarity with its Gulf partners in light of the ongoing indiscriminate Iranian attacks and reiterated the Alliance’s strong condemnation. His discussions focused on the evolving regional security environment and opportunities to deepen NATO – Qatar cooperation. Mr Colomina welcomed the recent endorsement of the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITTP), and discussed the implementation of the four ICI flagship projects, launched at the NATO Summit in Ankara earlier this month.
