On 8-9 April 2026, the 12th iteration of the annual NATO-Pakistan Military Staff Talks was held at NATO Headquarters, in Brussels.
On the NATO side, Major General Eray Üngüder, Director of the IMS Cooperative Security Division led the talks. On the Pakistani side, the talks were headed by Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, the Chief of General Staff (CGS).
Major General Üngüder, underlining the fact that NATO values its relationship with Pakistan, stressed that NATO and Pakistan share a common interest in South Asia’s regional stability. The talks included an exchange of views on Pakistan-NATO military relations, regional security and training, education and exercise activities in order to enhance the mutual cooperation and foster interoperability between NATO and Pakistan Armed Forces. On the margins of the talks, LTG Raza also met with various senior officials at NATO HQ and SHAPE.
NATO and Pakistan maintain regular discussions, through both civilian and military channels, to build reciprocal transparency with a view to safeguard the Alliance’s security interests.
