Chișinău, 18-20 March 2026 – The Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, travelled to the Republic of Moldova and engaged with the nation’s top political and military leaders.

Meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, CMC stressed “in today’s security environment, it is important that we take stock of our shared momentum, so we may continue to get stronger”. CMC met also the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Alexandru Munteanu, discussing continued NATO practical support towards the Republic of Moldova.

Additionally, CMC engaged with the Minister of Defence, Mr. Anatolie Nosatii, and with the Chief of the General Staff of the National Army, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Vitalie Micov. After the fruitful exchanges, CMC stated that “NATO reaffirms its continued support for military-to-military cooperation, including assistance with the National Army reform and modernization processes.” He also emphasised how NATO truly welcomes Moldova’s continued contribution to KFOR, as this experience builds interoperability, and clearly demonstrates how Moldova contributes to international security.

During his visit, CMC was also offered the opportunity to deliver a lecture to the future leaders of Moldova’s military, on the subject of adapting education and training. Finally, Admiral Cavo Dragone interacted with the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova, which plays an important role of promoting dialogue and practical cooperation between NATO and Moldova, and met with the ambassadors and military attachés from the NATO member countries present in Moldova.
