On 27th February 2026, Lieutenant General Remigijus Baltrėnas, Director General of the International Military Staff (DGIMS), visited Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum), in the Netherlands.

At the JFC Brunssum, Lieutenant General Baltrėnas met with the Commander, General Ingo Gerhartz, and discussed the security dynamics of NATO’s Eastern Flank, defence plans, NATO’s largest military exercise of this year STEADFAST DART 2026 and upcoming major exercises of the year 2027.

“Our deterrence and defence posture are underpinned by a combination of forward presence and rapid reinforcement. JFC military personnel and civilian staff in Brunssum work tirelessly to ensure that NATO’s awareness and readiness align with the demands for security, today and tomorrow,” stated Lieutenant General Baltrėnas.

“Current threats are multifaceted. JFC Brunssum, with its capabilities, coordinates 24/7 with all Allies within its area of responsibility across all domains. With Steadfast Dart 2026, we demonstrated that NATO is ready and able to respond appropriately at any time.” said JFC Brunssum Commander General Ingo Gerhartz.

Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum is one of three headquarters in NATO at the operational-level, together with JFC Naples (Italy) and JFC Norfolk (United States).

JFC Brunssum plans, executes and supports military operations within its assigned missions and tasks to deter and defend against all threats across all domains, in order to preserve freedom and security, national sovereignty and peace of NATO Members and Partners.
