On Tuesday (6 January 2026), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte joined leaders during a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris. The meeting was co-hosted by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Sir Keir Starmer.

The Secretary General welcomed progress on practical aspects of securing a just and lasting end to the war against Ukraine, praising the US’ work to pursue peace and the commitment of Allies to contribute to security guarantees. While highlighting the valuable support that Allies and partners have been providing to Ukraine, he also urged continued contributions, noting the persistent needs Ukraine faces as it continues to defend against Russian attacks.
