Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska stressed the importance of continued support to Ukraine during a 24 February 2025 ceremony marking three years since Russia’s full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.

Alongside Natalia Galibarenko, the Ukrainian Ambassador to NATO, Ms Shekerinska reaffirmed that “NATO is determined to support Ukraine through the challenges ahead. The bravery, resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people – soldiers and civilians alike – are an inspiration to the world.”

Ms Shekerinska highlighted the unprecedented support provided to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began, noting that in 2024, Allies pledged 40 billion euros of security assistance to Ukraine, but actually delivered over 50 billion, over half of which came from European Allies and Canada. She noted the importance of continuing support in order to bring a just and lasting end to the aggression against Ukraine, emphasising the need for robust security guarantees and the vital role that Allies will need to play.

The address was followed by a moment of silence and a musical performance by the Cultural Forces unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
