NATO Deputy Secretary General visits Hungary

Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska travelled to Székesfehérvár, Hungary on Monday (10 February) where she participated in a ceremony declaring the Headquarters Multinational Division Centre (HQ MND-C) fully operational.
Speaking in the ceremony, the Deputy Secretary General congratulated Hungary, Croatia and Slovakia on this significant achievement and stressed the critical role that the Headquarters Multinational Division Centre plays in defending NATO’s eastern flank. She added that the presence of the Headquarters sends a clear and strong signal that NATO’s deterrence and defence posture is strong and the Alliance stands united. She also underlined the importance of Allies building on the Headquarters’ work to transform the division into a fully capable fighting force.
During her visit, Ms Shekerinska also met with the Minister of Defence of Hungary, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky. She thanked Hungary for its contributions to NATO’s deterrence and defence posture and welcomed its increase in defence spending. She also noted the importance of Hungary’s role as a host nation for NATO’s Forward Land Forces and the Headquarters Multinational Division Centre.
