Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană addressed the 69th annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Copenhagen, Denmark on Monday (9 October 2023).

In his address, Mr Geoană highlighted the important role parliamentarians play in NATO’s continued support Ukraine, its strengthened deterrence and defence, and in defending NATO’s shared values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. The Deputy Secretary General thanked Denmark as the host for its contributions to NATO. Mr Geoană also condemned the unjustifiable acts perpetrated by Hamas against Israel over the weekend.

More than 270 members of parliament representing 31 NATO Allies, along with approximately 100 members from around 25 partner countries and parliamentary bodies, took part in this annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
