NATO organised the fifth annual Transatlantic Policy Planners’ Conference in Paris, France on Tuesday and Wednesday (17-18 January 2023). This flagship event regarding strategic foresight brings together teams of experts from all NATO Allies.

The Directors of policy planning and foresight from Allied foreign affairs ministries met with NATO invitees Finland and Sweden, as well as their counterparts from the European Union External Action Service. The participants assessed the wide range of emerging, potential, and long-term policy issues that could shape Euro-Atlantic stability and security, which NATO and its partners will need to confront in 2023 and beyond.

This relatively new format, which was launched in 2019, was co-hosted by the Policy Planning Unit in the Office of the NATO Secretary General and the Centre d’analyse, de prévision et de stratégie (CAPS) of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
