Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg underlined NATO's determination to support Ukraine and defend all Allies in a speech to the Aspen – GMF Bucharest Forum on Tuesday (29 November 2022). Speaking ahead of meetings of NATO Foreign Ministers, he said that Allies will continue to stand by Ukraine as it defends against Russia's illegal war of aggression. ''There can be no lasting peace if the aggressor wins,'' he said. ''There can be no lasting peace if oppression and autocracy prevail over freedom and democracy.''
NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană also spoke at the Bucharest Forum, stressing the enduring importance of the transatlantic bond. Mr Geoană co-founded the Aspen Institute Romania, which organised the Bucharest Forum together with the German Marshall Fund, supported by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division and the government of Romania.
