As part of the close cooperation between the State of Qatar and NATO, the North Atlantic Alliance will provide support for the security aspects of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, scheduled to take place in the State of Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

The support will include training against threats posed by Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) materials, which will be delivered by Slovakia and NATO’s Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence in the Czech Republic. It will also include training for the protection of very important people (VIPs) and to counter threats posed by improvised explosive devices, which will be offered by Romania. A first training session dealing with Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear threats was conducted this past May in Slovakia.

The State of Qatar is a committed partner of NATO and has been actively engaged with the Atlantic Alliance for many years.
