On Tuesday (17 May 2022) the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană, participated in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union in its defence configuration.

The Deputy Secretary General and EU ministers exchanged views on the Russian aggression against Ukraine and discussed additional ways to further support Ukraine, including by providing military assistance. The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, joined the meeting via videoconference.
