NATO and EU Ambassadors meet to discuss crisis in Ukraine

Russia’s military build-up in and around Ukraine and the implications for European and international security were discussed at today’s (03 February 2022) informal meeting between the North Atlantic Council and the European Union’s Political and Security Committee (PSC). The meeting, part of the regular high-level dialogue between NATO and the EU, was preceded by a discussion by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană and PSC Chair Delphine Pronk, with the Ambassadors of Ukraine to NATO and to the EU, Nataliia Galibarenko and Vsevolod Chentsov.
The Deputy Secretary General stressed that NATO continues to consult and coordinate with close partners, including Ukraine and the EU. He welcomed the meeting as an opportunity to further build a common approach between NATO Allies and EU Member States, and to foster unity of efforts in support of Ukraine.
Today’s meeting was part of the regular political dialogue between NATO and EU Ambassadors to discuss issues of common interest, ranging from security in Europe’s neighbourhood, through Afghanistan and China, to addressing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and new technologies.
