NATO's support for Ukraine's and Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty remains ''unwavering'', Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday (01 December 2021) at the end of a two day meeting of Allied Foreign Ministers in Riga.

Following Russia's military build-up near Ukraine, Mr Stoltenberg stressed that ''any future Russian aggression would come at a high price, and have serious political and economic consequences for Russia.'' The Secretary General said Ministers also discussed what lessons to draw from the Alliance’s almost two-decade-long mission in Afghanistan. Developments in the Western Balkans were also on the agenda, with Finland, Sweden, and the EU High Representative joining the discussion.
