NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs to NATO Headquarters on Monday (12 July 2021) to discuss the Alliance’s adaptation and Latvia’s offer to host a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Riga in December.

The Secretary General said he looked forward to the meeting, which will be an important milestone in implementing the NATO 2030 agenda to prepare the Alliance for the future.

The Secretary General also expressed his appreciation for Latvia’s contributions to NATO and support for the NATO 2030 agenda, which was agreed by Allied leaders at the Brussels Summit. They also exchanged views on the security situation in the Baltic Sea region and Russia’s aggressive actions in the broader region.
