Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană emphasized the importance of NATO drawing lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic in remarks to a Lessons Learned Conference organised by the Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre on Tuesday (16 March 2021).

While unprecedented events pose challenges, he said, they also offer opportunities to strengthen the Alliance."We can emerge, we should emerge and we will emerge from this crisis better prepared, with greater resilience, with faster decision making and more strategic insight. So that when the next crisis hits – and it sure will from some place – we will be ready.”
