Pristina, 07 April – KFOR delivered today personal protective equipment against COVID19 to the Municipalities of North and South Mitrovica

The US-led KFOR Regional-Command East commander Colonel Eric Riley, accompanied by his medical personnel, delivered 4000 non-sterile gloves, 200 sterile gloves, 20 boxes of N95 face masks, 350 patient face masks, 100 patient gowns, bottles of hand sanitizer, and other medical supplies to North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic and South Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri to support their communities’ response to COVID-19. The donated equipment is essential to medical workers effectively responding to COVID-19 cases.

“KFOR Regional-Command East’s stands with our NATO partners and all of those affected by the crisis,” said Col. Riley. “We are taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while continuing our mission to provide a safe and secure environment for the people of Kosovo, in accordance with KFOR’s mandate based on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.”

KFOR has implemented prudent measures based on the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to mitigate the risks related to COVID-19 for its personnel and for the communities of Kosovo. KFOR Commander, Major General Risi, has conducted several engagements with representatives of the local authorities, including bringing together the Mayors of Mitrovica North and South on the main bridge on the river Ibar to address the media about the importance of measures against COVID-19 for the safety of all local communities.
