Title
The Protection of Persons with Disabilities in Armed Conflict: Operationalizing Civilian - Protection in the NATO Context
Mechanism
Advanced Research Workshop (ARW)
Dates
03 - 04 Oct 2019
Location
Lund, Sweden
Description
The purpose of the event is to generate insights into practical challenges of protecting civilians with disabilities in conflict situations and to contribute to an emerging dialogue on disability inclusive civilian protection, specifically as it applies to NATO. It brings together the community concerned with civilian protection and the implementation of international humanitarian law and those interested in advancing the rights of persons with disabilities in accordance with UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRDP), particularly in situations of risk. The event will add value by clarifying and operationalizing the obligations of the UN CRDP in the context of armed conflict.
