Camille Grand, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment, has just concluded a visit to Israel. Over the last two days (3-4 September), he met with Israeli officials in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, to discuss the ongoing practical cooperation between NATO and Israel, and exchange views on the current situation in the Mediterranean region.

Mr. Grand was received by senior representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for talks on the security challenges in the region, as well as weapons proliferation and arms control, cyber defence, research and development. In other meetings with civilian and military officials, the Assistant Secretary General discussed civil preparedness and air defence.

Israel has been an important partner to NATO for more than 20 years, as well as an active member of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue. The cooperation between NATO and Israel is closer than ever, and ranges from cyber defence, through countering the proliferation of missiles, weapons of mass destruction and intelligence, to fighting terrorism.
