В среду (26 июня 2019 г.) министры обороны стран НАТО встретились в Брюсселе, чтобы обсудить нарушение Россией Договора о ракетах средней и меньшей дальности и реакцию Североатлантического союза. «Мы продолжаем призывать Россию вернуться к полному и поддающемуся проверке соблюдению», – сказал Генеральный секретарь НАТО Йенс Столтенберг. Он подчеркнул, что Россия продолжает производство и развертывание ракет SSC-8, и поэтому НАТО готовится к миру без Договора о РСМД. «Министры приняли сегодня решение, что НАТО будет реагировать в случае, если Россия не вернется к соблюдению Договора», – сказал Генеральный секретарь. Он отметил, что у России еще есть шанс спасти Договор о РСМД, и что страны НАТО заявят об этом на заседании Совета Россия–НАТО на следующей неделе.
