NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller is in Tbilisi today (21 September 2018) to reaffirm NATO’s strong commitment to Georgia.

In her press conference with Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, David Dondua, she reiterated NATO’s position that Georgia will join the Alliance, and thanked Georgia for its strong commitment to NATO.  She said, “You are one of the largest troop contributors to our training mission in Afghanistan, helping to stabilize the country, and deny safe haven to terrorists. We deeply appreciate Georgia’s strong support for NATO’s operations and missions.”

While in Tbilisi, the Deputy Secretary General is also meeting with President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Gakharia,  First Deputy Minister of Defence, Lela Chikovani, and other senior officials.   Between her official meetings, the Deputy Secretary General spoke with students at Tbilisi State University.
