On 17–18 September 2018, a high-level inter-ministerial delegation from the State of Qatar visited NATO Headquarters to discuss the renewal of the NATO-Qatar Individual Partnership and Cooperation Programme. The Qatari delegation was headed by Ambassador Abdulrahman Al-Khulaifi, Head of the Mission of the State of Qatar to NATO, while the Alliance’s inter-divisional delegation was led by Mr. Nicola de Santis, Head of the NATO Middle East and North Africa Section of the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division.
During the sessions of the meeting, Qatari civilian and military representatives from several ministries discussed the further development of NATO-Qatar cooperation with senior officials of NATO’s International Staff and International Military Staff.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify the specific areas of cooperation for the new Individual Partnership and Cooperation Programme between NATO and Qatar, in the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.
