Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday (9 May) opened the Alliance’s new Room 1 with the first meeting of the North Atlantic Council in the Alliance’s new headquarters.

Resembling an auditorium and equipped with the latest audio-visual technology, Room 1 is where ambassadors hold the Alliance’s most important debates and take the most significant decisions. The meeting of the 29 Allied ambassadors, NATO’s highest-decision making authority, was held as Alliance Staff and national representatives of the 29 Allies continue to move into the new complex. About half the 4,000 people working at NATO have now moved into the new complex. The move will be completed in mid-June and ahead of the Alliance’s July Summit in Brussels.
