On 21-23 March 2018, Ambassador Alejandro Alvargonzález, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy paid an official visit to Morocco, in the framework of the Alliance's Mediterranean Dialogue.

During his visit, Ambassador Alvargonzález held bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, the Minister Delegated for National Defense, Amb. Youssef Amrani, the Foreign Policy Advisor of the King of Morocco, Mr. Abdelfatah Louarak, the Inspector General of the Moroccan Armed Forces, and Mr. Mohamed Yassine Mansouri, Director General of the Intelligence Services, DGDE).

‎The meetings focused on the state of play of NATO’s cooperation with Morocco and how to further enhance political consultations and practical cooperation within the framework of the Mediterranean Dialogue, including through the development of a new Individual Partnership and Cooperation Programme (IPCP). Topics discussed also focused on regional common security challenges affecting NATO and Morocco. The meeting demonstrated NATO and Morocco’s commitment to strengthening political and practical cooperation.
