The NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2018. With more than 200 studies delivered since its inception, the NIAG has continuously adapted to the needs of the Alliance, providing technical and high-level advice covering a wide spectrum of topics.

The NIAG is a high-level consultative body of senior industrialists from NATO Allied and Partner nations. It advises NATO, as well as the Conference of National Armaments Directors, on key issues regarding armaments cooperation matters and the industrial and technological base of the Alliance.

Since the start of 2018, the NIAG has a new Chairman: Mr. John Jansen (The Netherlands) succeeded Mr. Martin Hill (United Kingdom). Mr. Jansen is a Senior Advisor to the Netherlands Foundation for Defence and Security Industries (NIDV).

At its last plenary meeting in 2017, the NIAG also elected Mr. Rudy Priem (Belgium) as it new Vice-Chairman, bidding farewell to Mr. Michael Langer (Germany). Mr. Priem is Director, European Government Relations for Security, Defense and Space at United Technologies Corporation (UTC).

Both were elected to a two-year term.
