NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg began a two-day visit to Canada on Friday (17 November 2017), to participate in the Halifax International Security Forum.

On Friday, Mr Stoltenberg will open the Forum alongside Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan, and participate in a panel discussion. Later in the day, he will accept the Halifax Builder Award on behalf of NATO, and give a speech. The Builder Award is given to individuals or institutions which have made outstanding contributions to the Halifax Forum’s goal of strengthening cooperation among democracies. On Saturday, the Secretary General will hold a series of bilateral meetings, and participate in further panel discussions.

The Halifax International Security Forum, of which NATO is a partner, is a leading international security conference. It has been held annually in Halifax, Nova Scotia since 2009.
