NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo on Tuesday (31 October 2017), during the second day of his visit to the region. Calling NATO and Japan “natural partners”, the Secretary General stressed the importance of working together to face shared challenges - notably the behaviour of North Korea. Speaking alongside Prime Minister Abe, the Secretary General called on North Korea to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes. “We agree that they pose a global threat, which requires a global response,” he said.
