On 30 January 2017, the funds from the 49th annual NATO Charity Bazaar (NCB) were presented to 20 international charities, 6 Belgian charities, and one emergency request in Haiti. At the ceremony, the charities spoke about their projects, which included machines for pediatric cancer patients, water sanitation projects, and facilities for abused children. The projects from these charities will be completed by December 2017 and will improve the lives of thousands of people across the world.

The combined efforts of the 42 NATO member and partner countries that take part in the NCB were able to raise 213,880 Euros in 2016. In addition to sales on Bazaar day, these nations raised money throughout the year via bake sales, art sales and personal fundraisers. The NCB aims to give 65% of funds raised to international charities and 35% to Belgian charities. On the day of the Bazaar, the public area of NATO Headquarters was filled with thousands of people visiting over 60 national stands, restaurant stands and sponsor tables. The event was attended by Mrs Ingrid Schulerud, the event's main patron, as well as Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller and the Honorary President, Mrs Hilde Broeks.

If you are part of a registered charity (Asbl or VZW) or know a charity that would like to apply for funding for a project in 2018, please refer to the charity application on our website at www.natocharitybazaar.org. The application deadline is 12h00 on 1 May 2017. Charities that have already received funding from the NCB are allowed to re-apply every three years if they are located in Belgium or every four years if they are an international charity.
