NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller and Allies welcomed Vadym Chernysh, Minister of Ukraine for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, to NATO Headquarters for the first time on Tuesday (15 November 2016). In a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, Minister Chernysh briefed Allies on the security situation in Ukraine, as well as the challenges faced by refugees and internally displaced people.
Allies expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in the conflict zone, as well as human rights abuses in Crimea. They also underscored the importance of the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements. Allies reiterated that NATO will continue to provide strong political and practical support to Ukraine as the government pursues vital reforms in the defence and security sectors.
