NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined world leaders and people across Israel in honouring the life of former Israeli President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on Friday (30 September 2016). Offering condolences to Peres’ family and friends, the Secretary General said that “Shimon Peres lived the history of Israel and shaped the Middle East.”

Mr. Stoltenberg noted that Peres was an architect of peace: a man who dedicated his life to his country and to the pursuit of peace in one of the most troubled regions of this world. “He will be missed for his unique ability to combine vision and reality,” said the Secretary General.
