In 2016, NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division (PDD) launched a policy paper competition “Peace and Security in the 21st Century - a youth perspective” for students from all Allied countries. The purpose of this initiative was to learn about the views and visions of young people on current security challenges. The papers received showed a high level of interest in the subject and offered many innovative ideas to decision makers.

On 22 June 2016,  PDD hosted the winners of the competition at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The students attended briefings and exchanged views with NATO officials.
