On 12-13 October 2015, the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos paid an official visit to Israel, in the framework of the Mediterranean Dialogue partnership.

During his visit Ambassador Stamatopoulos met with senior civilian and military officials at the Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministries, conducting political consultations and discussing practical cooperation activities between NATO and Israel, exchanging views on current developments in the Mediterranean and in the Middle East within the annual NATO-Israel Strategic dialogue talks.

Israel is a member of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue, since it was established by NATO Foreign Ministers in December 1994.

During his visit to Israel Ambassador Stamatopoulos also participated as a speaker in a round table with senior scholars and experts in international affairs, at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.
