NATO and New Zealand take stock of long standing partnership

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed New Zealand's Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee to NATO headquarters on Friday (24 April 2015) for talks on the state of the partnership between the Alliance and New Zealand.
New Zealand is a strong and reliable partner for NATO. It has made significant contributions to NATO-led efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina (through the IFOR and SFOR missions) and in Afghanistan (through the ISAF mission). It continues to make significant contributions to current NATO-led operations, including the Resolute Support Mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces and institutions, the counter-terrorist Operation Active Endeavour across the Mediterranean Sea, and the counter-piracy Operation Ocean Shield off the Horn of Africa.
The visit by Minister Brownlee provided an opportunity to exchange views on how to further the partnership between NATO and New Zealand in areas of potential mutual interest, including armaments, cyber defence, science and technology.
