The NATO Industry Forum addresses a recognised need for more elevated dialogue between NATO and industry to ensure the Alliance benefits from the best solutions to military requirements, within expected budget and time constraints, now and in the foreseeable future.
The Forum is sponsored by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and co-organised by Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General Jean-Paul Paloméros and Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Patrick Auroy.
It is the capstone event for the Alliance to hold open dialogue with senior representatives from industry and governments on topics pertaining to defence capability development, to share their own views and experience, and identify solutions to the current security and financial challenges. It will serve as a sounding board to discuss implementation of the strategic guidance that NATO Heads of State and Government expressed last year at the Chicago Summit and in the NATO Strategic Concept.
More than ever, NATO must remain ready for active engagement with modern capabilities. To achieve this, NATO must maintain robust defence and deterrence capabilities, be capable of managing crises, and provide security cooperatively. NATO also reaffirms the bond between European and North American allies, and with its partners across the globe.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Alexander Vershbow and the Turkish Minister of National Defence Dr. Ismet Yilmaz will open the plenary session.
The NATO-Industry Forum will field experienced speakers in three panels:
The NATO-Industry Forum is open to representatives from NATO and Partnership for Peace nations.
